IWB is an acronym for Inside The Waistband, and refers to holsters that are carried or worn inside the waistband. IWB holsters are called ITP holsters (inside the pants), waistband holsters, and appendix holsters.

For concealment, IWB holsters offer some definite benefits over belt holsters. With an IWB holster, the bulk of the weapon itself rides within the waistband. The grip of the handgun is generally the only portion of the weapon that rides above the waistline.

IWB holsters attach to the belt a number of easy including a steel clip, polymer clip, special hooks called "J-hooks", snap straps, or even velcro. Each attachment method has pros and cons so you might want to experiment until you find the one that works the best for you.

Like belt holsters, IWB holsters also have different cants as some ride straight up and down while others ride at a forward cant.
