Ruger LCP, Glock 26 or Springfield Armory XD Sub-Compact?

Please give the price both new and used that you think this gun should retail for.
The gun would probably be carried in an inside-the-pocket holster.

None of the above. I would buy the S&W SW9VE. It is like the Glock 19 but about $150 cheaper. I bought one about 3 months ago and love it.

For inside-the-pocket carry the Elsie P is the only practical choice. The other two are still too bulky for this manner of carry. Make sure your holster covers the trigger as a matter of safety.
Ruger LCP: Approx. $330. US currency plus tax, ammo & holster. For carry in a purse-holster any of the three will do but the other two still cost more. Again, make sure the holster covers the trigger.

Well the best gun based on where and how you said she would carry it would be the LCP just because of the size. THe best gun listed in my opinion though would the XD in 9mm. I have not met an xd i did not like.
I am not a glock fan at all.
I have seen the LCPs go for 300 by me (will county, IL)
XDs about 520 – 550 give or take.
Glocks I do not know.

The Glock and the XD are fine guns, but for a pocket pistol, my vote goes to the new Ruger LCP .380Auto. It’s smaller, lighter (9.4oz), very well made, shoots quite well in the 5-10 yd defensive range, and is, truly, a pocket pistol. Reasonably priced also. I’ve had mine about two months now. I’ve put about 300 rounds thru it so far without so much as a hiccup. Perfect performance and reliability. It carries (truly unnoticed) in a pocket holster that conceals its shape. As to accuracy, at 10 yards I can easily keep all my shots on a 6″ paper plate. I wouldn’t ask for more from a self-defense gun like this.
My wife can also handle the LCP without problems. Admittedly, because of its size and weight, it has a bit more kick than larger .380s, but not so much as to be unmanageable. It does require a firm grip, as it is DAO, with a trigger pull of about 7#, but neither of us have found that to be a problem.
But the best, most convincing argument in its favor is that I tend to carry it most of the time. Something I did not always do with my 9mm, because it was, at times, either uncomfortable or inconvenient. The old adage is true – the small gun you always carry is far better than the bigger gun at home in the dresser.
The LCP is so new, that your chances of finding one used is nil!! MSRP is $330. If you can FIND one, you might get it as low as $300. With the huge demand, some unscrupulous dealers are advertising the LCP for as much as $550!!

I have shot all three of these guns. I like them all and any of them would make a good choice.
Ruger LCP
Pros:
only one of the three you mentioned that will fit in a pocket holster. (The DeSantis nemesis works great.)
Inexpensive: MSRP $330 (I picked one up for $310 and the chances of finding one used, forget it not going to happen for a LONG time)
Easy to clean
lightweight
reliable (I have over 500 flawless rounds though mine)
20% off accessory coupon when you register the gun with Ruger (I used the coupon to buy extra magazines.)
comes with built in nickname (Elsie P sorry, couldn’t resist)
no manual safety
Cons:
Difficult to actually find. (They are on indefinite backorder, so if you can’t find one in stock somewhere you’re going to wait a long time to get one.)
6 round magazine
difficult to get slide to lock open (it does not lock open after last round and when you need to lock it open and ‘step behind the yellow line’ it can be tricky to accomplish, I’m getting better with practice)
need to dab paint on the front sight
limited selection of available holsters (that will change over time)
no manual safety
Glock 26
Pros: lightweight
small
proven track record
available high capacity magazines
huge selection of available holsters
Cons:
more expensive than the LCP MSRP $600 – $650 (should retail new for $500 – $550ish) depending on model
my small hands can’t get a comfortable grip on any glock (or any gun I’ve tried with a double stack magazine for that matter)
difficult to find used, those that have them keep them
XD
Pros:
small
lightweight (very similar in size and weight to the glock 26)
less expensive than the glock MSRP $543 (should be able to find one new retail for $450ish)
most come with holster, magazine loader, and double magazine pouch
grip safety (I personally like that)
easy to clean
Cons:
difficult to find used, again those that have them like them and keep them

I agree with what most everyone said, I actually own all three guns. I carry my lcp with me all the time. the glock 26 and the xd are a lot heavier, but in winter clothing or when wearing a jacket are fine, but I usually wear buisness attire, and to be seen with a gun would look pretty bad dealing with customers all day. The Lcp fits in the change pocket lined at the bottom of your actual pocket. IT stays there and you can’t tell you have it.
Accuracy- I can hit the paper(12x12in) at 50ft with the lcp, not the center at any means, but I would say good enough. The glock and xd are waaaay easyer to hit. But thats what the gun is for.
now for these cons…..
Difficult to actually find. True but are available now
6 round magazine true how many bullet do you need?
difficult to get slide to lock open use 2 hands-never had a problem
need to dab paint on the front sight it is a short range gun should be shot not really a gun for aiming.
limited selection of available holsters –it takes the same holsters as the keltec family, beretta bobcat and tomcat
no manual safety–neither does the glock(sort of)
hope it helps
