Best pocket holster for a Smith & Wesson J Frame?
S&W 642, 1 7/8" barrel, 38 sp +p
I want either an inside-the-waistband or a pocket holster. Obviously, this is my CCW gun. I'd prefer not to spend a lot of money trying out holsters, so which one works best for you?
I've found a front pocket holster to be my best choice of carry for my S&W J Frame. It's almost always accessible (even for being seated in the car), and I can carry it with me almost anywhere without being noticed. Some holster makers offer both a front and rear pocket model, but I found the rear pocket model to be too bulky with a J frame. Front pocket works great for me with either jeans, khakis, or cargo shorts.

Don Hume makes a great pocket holster for the 642. If you want an ankle holster, check out Uncle Mikes.
