Introduced by Glock in 1990, the Glock 22 is the .40 caliber cousin of the Glock 17. Built on a standard G-17 frame, the only real difference between the two handguns is the caliber.
The Glock 22 carries 15 rounds of S&W .40 caliber ammunition. The G-22 was one of the first pistols designed for the potent .40 cal. round, and quickly established a foothold in military and law enforcement world wide.
From a holster perspective, the Glock 22 and 17 are built on the same frame, so they will fit into a holster made for either. Most gun holster manufacturers put the G-17, G-22, and G-31 in the same holster.
