Traditionally, Fobus holsters haven’t utilized a true retention system like a release mechanism or thumb strap. Until recently their holsters have used a “passive” retention system where the weapon has to be drawn a certain way in order for it to clear the holster. For select holster models, Fobus has now incorporated a thumb strap for added security. Fobus offers a lifetime warranty on their products, and seem to be a good value for the money.

Fobus holsters are manufactured through injection molding of a special polymer called RX18, which is a special a compound of polymers designed for durability, strength, and high performance. Fobus has had some ups and down in the industry as some police departments and law enforcement agencies refused to allow officers to wear Fobus holsters either on or off duty due to concerns about the retention set-up.
