Fobus Holsters originated and are based in Israel, but have a U.S. headquarters in PA. The company originally made holsters for the Israeli military and security forces, and now offers offers a number of holster models for many popular guns on the market today.
Fobus is an industry leader in affordable thermoplastic gun holsters for a variety of uses. They offer nearly every type of holster style there is in a thermoplastic material including:
- Belt models
- Paddle models
- Ankle holsters
- IWB models
- Shoulder holsters
Traditionally, Fobus holsters haven’t utilized a true retention system like a release mechanism or thumb strap. Until recently their holsters have used a “passive” retention system where the weapon has to be drawn a certain way in order for it to clear the holster. For select holster models, Fobus has now incorporated a thumb strap for added security. Fobus offers a lifetime warranty on their products, and seem to be a good value for the money.
Fobus holsters are manufactured through injection molding of a special polymer called RX18, which is a special a compound of polymers designed for durability, strength, and high performance. Fobus has had some ups and down in the industry as some police departments and law enforcement agencies refused to allow officers to wear Fobus holsters either on or off duty due to concerns about the retention set-up.
