Based on the popularity of the P89, Ruger decided to produce a more compact version of this 9mm model. The result was the P93, which was released in 1993.
The P93 featured the same aluminum frame as the P89, but the slide was almost a full inch shorter. The P93 was chambered for the 9mm and still carried the same round count as the P89.
While the P93 was relatively popular, Ruger discontinued it in 2006.
