Pocket Holsters
As more and more "mouse" guns enter the handgun market, front and rear pocket carry is becoming more and more popular. Pocket carry gives you the ability to carry a small self defense handgun with little effort.
Like most other types of concealed carry holsters, pocket holsters are only effective if you carry the right sized weapon. In my humble opinion, any handgun larger than a Glock 26, probably isn;t suitable for pocket carry. Now, a larger weapon could probably work for pocket carry in a jacket, but might pose a problem in shorts or jeans pockets.
Pocket holsters can loosely be grouped into two different categories:
- Front pocket
- Rear or Back pocket
Of the two, front pocket is the more popular and most common. Back pocket will only work with extremely thin weapons and isn't very comfortable when you sit. Front pocket holsters usually do a good job of breaking up the outline of the weapon in the pocket and keeping the weapon upright and readily accessible. While drawing from a front pocket isn't blazingly fast, with practice, it can be done quickly and effective.
