Thigh Holsters
Thigh holsters (also called Tactical holsters) are designed to be worn on the thigh instead of the belt. The idea behind this design involves the belief that, in certain holster applications like military and law enforcement use, the weapon was easier to carry and draw from a position on the thigh. This design is beneficial is the shooter is already carry a substantial amount of gear on their belt or carrying a long gun.
Most thigh holsters attach the thigh with a series of straps that wrap around the strongside leg. These keep the holster in place during heavy movement and provide a stable drawing platform. The attachment straps will also utilize a variety of different attachment methods including buckles, velcro, quick release tabs, and plastic snaps.
Many of the higher end thigh harness models have some built-in adjustably so the wear can change the ride height or position on the thing. Some will also offer a retention device while others won't.
